I'm excited to announce that I've just entered a new arena on Etsy. I am now offering vintage jewelry and other vintage accessories on my Etsy shop. I absolutely love going on the hunt for vintage treasures and now I can share my finds with others. Take a look at www.nicoalexanderjewelry.com to see what I have so far. I plan on continually adding more items.

Dawn Beach Bracelet

Ahhhh, Dawn Beach. My very first trip to the Caribbean. Dawn Beach is located on St. Maartens Island. What a beautiful place. This bracelet reminds me of the beauty of the pristine white sand and the clear blue/green waters. I made this bracelet with sterling silver chain, snow white jade, and aquamarine rondelles.

Spring 2009 Pantone Fashion Color Report

Pantone is the world-renowned authority on color. The PANTONE FASHION + HOME Color System is a vital tool for designers in the apparel, home furnishings and interior design industries for selecting and specifying color used in the manufacture of textiles and fashion. Here is Pantone's Spring 2009 Fashion Color Report. These are the hot colors for the season. They come out with these reports every Fall and Spring. Look for the next report coming in a couple of months.

Pearl Charm Bracelet

I just made this beautiful, fun, and kinda funky pearl charm bracelet. It's made from cultured pearls. Although they're not perfectly shaped like the Swarovski pearls are, the color and luster of real pearls can't be beat. The slight irregularity of the pearls add character.

My First Wedding Jewelry

This is my very first bridal jewelry. Yikes! I was pretty nervous about it. I know, from being a bride myself, that only perfection is expected for one of the most important days of your life. I brought it to the customer on Friday and she loved it. Yay! I have to say, it turned out beautiful and looks even more stunning in person.

Here is my newest creation. I found this butterfly charm at a yard sale! I was so excited when I found it. I love the vintage look of the necklace with the brass and the antique colors.

It's officially Memorial Day Weekend! Yay! I hope everybody has a very safe and fun-filled weekend. Don't forget the meaning behind this Holiday and say a prayer for our troops and what they're doing for our country.

I'll be working on more goodies for my blog this weekend and next week.

TGIF!

Day 2 of My Blog

So today is Day 2 of my blog. Hmmmmm. What do I write? Well, I've been brainstorming and thought that since I'm a stay-at-home mom, as well as a jewelry designer, I'll have to post some useful tips for my fellow stay-at-home moms and some handy tutorials for my fellow jewelry designers.

Speaking of jewelry, I am always on the search for unique ideas to display my handmade jewelry in shops and also for shows. Today I went to the ReStore Home Improvement Center in Frederick, MD, which is "a place where you can buy new and used building materials, home improvement items, and furnishings at a fraction of retail costs. Run by Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County, Maryland, the ReStore is a bargain hunter's dream store." And it really is. They have so much cool stuff there for great prices. A couple of weeks ago I found an old bi-fold shutter closet door for $7. I brought it home, had my husband cut it, and I painted it. It's PERFECT to hang my earrings in Le Savon. See the picture to the right.

So, going forward, anything I find that is clever and unique to use as jewelry displays, I will share on my blog.

Stay tuned for my cute linen covered bracelet displays!!

Happy Blogging!!

My Ella Necklace in an Etsy Treasury

How did I get here?

Well, I never thought I'd end up starting my own blog and here I am. My brother, who is a real estate agent in Hilton Head, SC has been prompting me to do this for months. I've often wondered, what is the big deal about blogging? I'm still not sure yet, but now that I'm here, I figure that I'll eventually find out.

Here's to my new blog and hoping I can make a go of it!
